Finished up processing this shoot and this one kept coming back asking to be posted because mother and son are so beautiful together.

Little G’s parents decided to wait until he popped out to find out if he was a he or she and had named him “Sprout” until then. Hence, the little yellow pumpkin cap their friend knit for him is all the more fitting. Precious little 5 day old.

If I could put a soundtrack to this post I would be hollering: Look at those eyes, look at those eyes! Sprout’s grandmother made that gorgeous quilt behind him (and a matching quilted diaper bag, diaper changing pad, AND a pouch to put the changing pad IN!).

Check out the parental eyeball gene pool baby G got to choose from. Wow.

I’m learning how to shape a picture without the benefit of the warmth and snap of California sunshine. During this shoot, the rain was coming down and the grey light was diffuse and dark coming from behind the thick cloud cover. I like the documentary feeling of these images. Everything seems much quieter somehow-like when it is raining out.
I was so excited when I got the text from Amy that she had given birth to a third daughter just 2 months ago. I feel so lucky to have been invited along on the journey as this family has grown from having one lovely daughter to three! This is an epic post of pictures as it was an epic shoot! Let’s get to the images:

Little LR, now 2, is full of spunk and personality. This one knows what she wants! Look at that cheeky grin. She’s up to something!

This shoot was so epic, 5 year old S decided to rest on this rock.

2 month old baby V has the sparkliest eyes.

And to think we tried to separate LR from her tricycle. How glad I am it didn’t work!

Congratulations, Amy and Brian. I can’t wait to see how these sisters grow to play with and love each other.

I want to get these images up of this little 2 year old, who I’ve also been following since he was curled up in his momma’s belly. I’m short on words at the moment (am getting ready to leave for a trip to France with the family!) but boy have I got a whole lotta cuteness to share with you. Little D was on the run our entire session. What a ball of fun:

This guy had things to do, places to see, people to visit…

This little 6 day old slept through our entire session, opening her eyes for a split second once before heading back into deep slumber. We had lots of fun arranging her in all sorts of positions while she snoozed away. She must have been having happy dreams – check out all the smiles. Adorable!

Two year old D loves her baby sister. D has grown up a lot since I last saw her earlier this year. She carries on conversations with fully formed thoughts and sentences. It is such fun to be around such a spunky kiddo.

The pink, almost translucent, newborn skin is the softest skin in the world.

I feel so lucky I was able to meet baby S at this squishy adorable newborn stage during my one week work-vacation in San Diego. Congratulations, Shana and Jonah-Baby S is gorgeous!

- Amazing photos of a 6 day old! The smiles are so pure. Audrey has done a great job photographing our children and our family. Seattle is lucky to have such a excellent photographer. She has a wonderful eye to capture the purity of family moments. The lighting and colors are always fabulous. Highly recommended for portraits of kids and/or families!September 10, 2009 - 2:01 PM
It has been almost a year and a half since I photographed “N” as a newborn. He is as sweet as a toddler as he was a baby. Nita and Fred have made a seriously cute kid. I want to pinch his cheeks in every image.
Yes, I did a little dance when I saw this bench.

As with all shoots featuring little toddlers, it is the child who dictates where we shoot and sometimes we get lucky and are led to a spot with a bit of dramatic lighting like this corner of the building.

All together now: “Aaaawwwwwwwww”

How fun it was to hang out with Amber, Mike, and their two wonderful girls in their backyard. They grow some serious lemons- in size and in tang. Four year old J made sure that I went home with two grapefruit sized lemons. My family had a ball making an event of squeezing them into some deeee-licious lemonade. Perfect refreshment during a San Diego heatwave. Thanks, guys!
Have a bit of the warm fuzzies with this one:

Trying out a studio look using natural light on adorable 14 month old A.

J loves to goof around. What wonderful energy.

Little A giving big sister J some “love”.

This is Amy Queen’s family. Amy Queen was our real estate agent. Real estate agent mom is a more accurate description. She held our hands through the entire ridiculously stressful buying-a-home-from-out-of-state experience. We had only one week to shop for homes in Seattle. Amy Queen did the rest of the work for us. She previewed dozens of homes for us before we arrived. While we were here, Amy patiently held Lilah (5 months old at the time), shared her snacks with our 3 year old, Dahlia, and worked her schedule around our children’s naptime. That was just the proverbial tip of the iceberg as to how much Amy worked to make sure our experience was a rockin’ one.
We put an offer on a house that week, left, and returned three months later with our moving vans. We depended on Amy to do everything for us in the interim. She met with inspectors, dug up permits in a downtown office, arranged to have our house painted, our windows unstuck, old furniture removed from the basement, our house cleaned…the list goes on. I could wax poetic forever about how hard she worked to make sure that when we arrived, our house would be completely ready to live in, the transition as smooth as possible.
I’m so happy I got to meet her family for a photo session and get a glimpse of the “real” Amy Queen, as she is with her family. Which (no big surprise), it turns out is exactly the same as she was with us. Funny, warm, and so smart. I’ll stop the gushing and let’s get to the pictures!!!

My goodness how fun are Amy’s children, 16 y/o M and 18 y/o E? These two have all the presence of rock stars. So much fun were these quick mini sessions.

E’s boyfriend is 6 foot 5 inches tall. That is tall.

Call Amy if you are about to buy or sell a home in the Seattle area! You’ll love her! She works with Lake & Company Real Estate in Greenlake. Her office number is 206-527-1777.

- Wow Audrey, how did you get M to jump up so high?! I can't wait to have kids so you can photograph them!September 10, 2009 - 6:11 PM
My lovely friends Miss M and J. We had fun running up and down their street. We stepped out of the house under a light drizzle and when we hit the sidewalk, it was as if we had stepped on some magic button and the sun came out all shiny and happy.

Channeling a childhood favorite book, The Secret Garden.

Springtime is amazing here! I was writing to my friends and family in San Diego every day describing which tree was blooming in my neighborhood or what color peonies had bloomed in our garden. M was very careful here not to touch her neighbors’ special tulips to preserve the sheen of the petals.

Sweet sisters.

I’m excited to introduce my new blog to “my” new city of Seattle. We are settling into our home and lovely neighborhood near UW and enjoy that the grocery store, library, donut shop, and bus stop are a hop, skip, and a jump away. I am slowly learning the layout of the city on the many unintentional detours I take trying to navigate the somewhat baffling roadways. I often end up driving 5 mph down residential streets staring at each house, admiring the unique imprint made by the owner. I love that my new favorite hat (picked up at the Fremont Fair) is made from recycled wool sweaters by a woman named Leslie. We learned later that we missed the Fremont Solstice Parade (do people really bike naked?!?) by a day. Just one more thing to look forward to next year. So yes, yes, and heck yeah to whether we are settling in, living it up in Seattle, and enjoying the gorgeous summer.
For those of you who are new to my blog and website, please head over to my old blog for a peek at my photographic adventures last year.
I have a bunch of posts to catch up on. Here are a few images from my last shoot in San Diego back in February.

- Audrey, Thank you so much for doing a wonderful job on our photos, so professional and beautiful. We love them! BTW, I accidentally contacted the wrong Audrey Lee Photography in NYC which kept popping up in my online searches when trying to reach your services. Hope I'm not the only person who made this mistake. I am so pleased with the photographs you took. Thank you again! Sincerely, MariaSeptember 10, 2009 - 8:56 AM
